Angeline Morrison is a singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who explores traditional song with a deep love, respect and curiosity. She mostly makes music in the genres of wyrd folk and psych folk, her work infused with elements of soul music, literature, ‘60s beat pop sounds, folklore, myth and the supernatural. With a feral approach, a handmade sonic aesthetic and a belief in the importance of tenderness, Angeline’s original compositions and re-stitchings of traditional songs focus on storytelling and the small things that often go unnoticed. * Door 7pm * DJ FlapJackDavey 7 - 8pm and 11pm onwards * Live music 8-11pm * Tickets on the door will be £19 - CASH OR BACS ONLY, SORRY! * Food available! ANGELINE MORRISON

Bessels Green Baptist Church · Sevenoaks

Angeline is one of the leading voices in English folk music today, celebrated for her soulful, resonant voice, evocative songwriting, and deeply affecting performances. Her artistry has earned standing ovations on stages large and small, with Mojo ranking her #5 among key voices of 2023. A singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Angeline’s music explores ordinary lives with reverence and curiosity. Accompanying herself on autoharp, dulcimer, and mbira, or singing unaccompanied, she delivers performances that linger long in memory. The Birmingham born-musician has lived in Cornwall for many years, where she is an active figure in the local music scene. Her groundbreaking album The Sorrow Songs: Folk Songs of Black British Experience, released on Topic Records, illuminated the often-overlooked Black British presence within the folk canon. Hailed as The Guardian’s Folk Album of the Year, it spent 15 weeks in the Top 40 Official Folk Albums Chart and is described by Angeline as a re-storying and a gift to forgotten Black ancestors and today’s folk community. Angeline’s diverse influences span folk, soul and other genres, having performed in projects like The Mighty Sceptr...
