2:22 A Ghost Story

Buscot Park Theatre · Faringdon

A Dinner party; A haunted house; A tragic secret. As the clock ticks towards 2:22am tensions amongst the four dinner guests start to rise and reality begins to unravel. Is there really something in the house, or is someone losing their mind? 2:22 A Ghost Story is full of twists and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final chilling moment. Only Four performances, each starting at 7.30pm. Our bar will be serving wines, beer and soft drinks from 6.45pm and during the interval. Cash or card payments accepted. Sarah Dunant - The Marchesa

Keats Community Library · London

From the acclaimed author of The Birth of Venus and In the Company of the Courtesan comes a vibrant exploration of the Italian Renaissance through the eyes of Isabella d’Este, the leading female art collector and patron of her time. Born in 1474, she ran a famed court, was a fashion icon and a cunning political operator. She left behind a magnificent collection of paintings, sculptures, books, instruments and curiosities. Long since lost or dispersed, all that remains is her correspondence - thousands of letters preserved in a deconsecrated church and convent, which make up the state archive of the city of Mantua. Inside this cavernous space, the ghost of Isabella is searching for the right scholar to give voice to her story. When she finds her, together through the letters, they resurrect a remarkable life: from a precocious daughter of a Duke and the painfully young wife of the Marquis of Mantua to a formidable court consort, collector, patron and political operator, guiding the state through the vicissitudes of war. A woman who unapologetically refuses to be bound by convention. The Marchesa is Renaissance history at its most vivid, an immersive, multi-layered experience that...

Storytelling at the Feast of Fools: Baden Prince

Quaker Meeting House · Northampton

On Wednesday 4 November, Baden Prince Jnr brings his show "What a Woman" to Northampton’s Storytelling at the Feast of Fools. "What a Woman" celebrates Baden's Caribbean heritage and honours his grandmother, who was his guardian between the ages of 1 -15 years. It consists of a mixture of folk tales, personal memoir, poetry and spoken word. By turns informative and entertaining, humorous and dark, it contains elements of the supernatural while providing insights into what it was like growing up in a vibrant Caribbean household headed by an indomitable matriarch. We’re delighted to welcome Baden’s return visit to the Feast of Fools. He has established a considerable reputation as a storyteller in recent years, with a series of appearances including the East Anglian Storytelling Festival, the Morocco International Storytelling Festival in Marrakesh, and in July of this year the Festival at the Edge at Bromyard; he’s also appeared at Bromyard, Cambridge, Chippenham and the New Forest Folk Festivals. Oh yes, and Glastonbury! … among others – the list keeps growing. He has a wonderful ability to engage the audience, between his warm presence, his quick wit and that most valu...
