It's been 14 long years since Grammy-winning guitarist Albert Lee played in Leek. One of the most respected musicians in the country-rock music scene, will be joined on stage this year by his young UK Band, Ali Petrie on Keys, Iain Petrie on Bass and Tim Hillsdon on drums. Albert made his name touring with the likes of Eric Clapton, The Crickets, The Everly Brothers, Joe Cocker and Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band through the 70s and 80s, and is widely regarded by his contemporaries as one of the greatest guitarists in the world – described as “the ultimate virtuoso” by Eric Clapton and “one of my all-time guitar gods” by US country sensation Brad Paisley. Albert received a Grammy Award in 2002 for his contribution to “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” featured on “Earl Scruggs and Friends”, and won a Grammy for his performance on Brad Paisley’s instrumental “Cluster Pluck” in 2009. Lauded for his unparalleled picking style and versatility, Albert was joined by a massive list of over 50 special guests at his 70th Birthday Celebration concerts at Cadogan Hall in 2014, including Bill Wyman, Shakin' Stevens, Chas & Dave, Gary Brooker, The Shadows and Ralph McTell (now availa...

IAN STONE -LOOKING FOR THE WOW

Foxlowe Arts Centre · Leek

Life can’t just be the humdrum, the mundane and the routine before the inevitable slide to disease, decay and death. Why can’t we sneak in a bit of awesome, a tad of amazing and maybe a smidge of wonderful? A forest canopy opening onto a huge vista would be enchanting for some but my ancestors wandered in the desert for forty years, I think we’ve been outdoors enough. Others get their fix from the spiritual but I’ve been harbouring a grudge against God since my mother stopped me going to Arsenal after my Barmitzvah. Forty nine years ago. ’God will be watching’ she said. Well, at least he got to see the game. The point is, life could be so much better so I’m on the lookout. Come and join me on the hunt. Ian Stone is a hugely experienced broadcaster, podcaster and writer and a brilliantly funny comedian. He performs at major comedy festivals and venues globally. His popular posts and reels on social media have quickly earned him a following of over 60k across BlueSky, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, amassing millions of views.

In the last three years, Ian has performed his one-man shows at the Edinburgh Festival to packed rooms and great reviews. In 2023, he won t...

Debbie Bond Trio afternoon show

Black Frog Presents at the Hot Box · Chelmsford

DEBBIE BOND - American blues singer, guitar player, and songwriter has been performing for decades in the Alabama backwoods and is now a regular on the Southern US and the European club and festival circuit. Influenced by raw juke joint blues and the famed sounds of Muscle Shoals, Debbie's impressive story includes years of performing with traditional Alabama blues musicians, like Johnny Shines, Eddie Kirkland, Willie King, Shar Baby, Little Jimmy Reed and more. Immersion in Alabama roots music has deeply flavoured her guitar playing, soulful voice and original song writing, giving her a contemporary and original sound, with soul, blues, and jazz influences. Debbie's collaboration with British-born keyboard and harmonica player “Radiator” Rick has added a swampy New Orleans edge to her sound. Debbie is a blues activist and founder of the Alabama Blues Project, a non-profit dedicated to promoting and preserving the state’s blues heritage. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her blues education work, has been recognised by the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, and the national Blues Hall of Fame. In 2023, she was nominated for the UK Blues Federation's "Best International Blu...
