Savak + Sinews + Ember

The Library · Oxford

Delighted be welcoming Savak back to town at the Library on Monday 2nd November! Savak are legends of the American alt-rock underground, having made 7 albums in 10 years, along with several 7" singles, EPs and splits. This October will see the release of Door Deals & Debt, an essential collection that spans the band's career to date. The core trio includes Sohrab Habibion (Obits, Edsel) and Michael Jaworski (The Cops) – who sing, play guitar, and split the songwriting – along with Matt Schulz (Holy Fuck, Enon) on drums. Bassist Matt Hunter (Silver Jews, New Radiant Storm King) joins for live performances. Drummer Alexis Fleisig (Girls Against Boys) will be touring with them in the UK this year! Recommended for fans of Television, Wire, Mission of Burma, and Magazine. https://www.instagram.com/savakband/ They're touring with Oxford's Sinews - playing unfashionable post-hardcore rock music, made up of Heather, Luke, Rich and Thomas. The band released their debut EP 'Reanimated' in January 2024, and a follow up EP 'Choreography' in February 2025, which Nightshift Magazine said ‘stands true to post-hardcore’s original ideals and finds the sweet spot between thoughtful intricacy...

Firestations + Patsy Delve + Nothing Dreams

The Library · Oxford

Oxford! Divine Schism host London art-pop band Firestations next month hot on the heels of their new record ‘International Dust’ which came out yesterday on Lost Map Records - they play the Library with Bristol-based kaleidoscopic doo-wop act Patsy Delve and Oxford’s jangle alt-rockers Nothing Dreams on Weds 4th Nov! This tour marks a return to Firestations’ full five-piece band format after a journey into more stripped back alt-folk territory on last year’s ‘Many White Horses’. The nine tracks on the new album encompass an eclectic and intuitive mix of art-pop, alt-country and hypnotic cyclical numbers, shaped collectively by the band as a unit through various twists and turns at rehearsal sessions during 2024. Excited to see Firestations for the first time, encompassing an eclectic and intuitive mix of dream-pop, alt-country and hypnotic cyclical numbers that were shaped collectively by the whole band through their various twists and turns through rehearsals for this sparkling new record. Patsy Delve bring their tender pop, haunted tape manipulation, frazzled microphone hiss and reverb soaked androgynous vocals to Oxford for the first time, combining all this into o...

Soot Sprite + Aftercare + Sandi Toxic

The Library · Oxford

Oh yes pals! We welcome emo-core shoegazers Soot Sprite to Oxford as they head out on tour in November - let's welcome them with open arms at the Library on Thurs 12th Nov! Soot Sprite originated in Devon in 2018 by front-woman Elise Cook. Since then they have released 3 EP’s (one self released) and their debut album under Specialist Subject Records. Soot Sprite extensively toured the UK and Europe, sharing the stage with bands such as Sweet Pill, SUDS, Chase Petra and Bears In Trees and released their debut album ‘Wield Your Hope Like A Weapon’ in 2025 to much critical acclaim. Clash Magazine- “A piece of art that perfectly captures something vital about what it means to hope for a better 2025 - 8/10” KEXP - “A potent set of alternative sweeping rock and epic bedroom rock that mixes shoegaze, grunge and emo elements to serve as the backdrop to Elise’s urgent, expressive, dark-yet triumphant lyrics” This is a hot ticket in the intimate basement of the Library - looking forward to having them back in town after they played our Oh, Community! last summer!

Tales of Spirits and Souls

Kidlington St Nicholas Church · Islip

“Tales of Spirits and Souls” is a chilling story of the Elf-King who spirits away a child, as told by Goethe and Schubert; songs from Vaughan Williams’ A Shropshire Lad; and A Wailing on the Wind, a brilliant piece that weaves musical styles of Irish ballads and reels and American 1940s Big Bands with a banshee’s cry, to tell the story of a lost love when a teenage boy learns family secrets that forge links between the past and present. This is music and storytelling for everyone aged from 10 to 100. Sollar (String Quartet) with storyteller and tenor Daniel Norman perform by candlelight. Lasts about one hour without interval. Expect some Halloween treats and potions - it is Friday the 13th after all. Snap up our Halloween advance ticket offers (£20 > £18 / £15 > £13) / (Under 18s £6 > £5 / £5 > £4) - available until 31 October.
