About this event

Chuck Prophet Quartet is on Wednesday 25 November 2026 at United Reformed Church, Oxted, with doors at 19:00. Tickets start at £27.80, including the booking fee.

Chuck Prophet brings his Quartet (ft. Stephanie Finch) to Oxted URC for his only South East UK date in 2026. Chuck Prophet’s streak of more than a dozen critically acclaimed solo records stretches all the way back to 1990, when the California native first shifted focus from his tenure with pioneering neo-psych band Green on Red to working under his own name. Since then, his songs have appeared in a slew of films and television shows, and his work has been covered by Bruce Springsteen, Solomon Burke, Heart, and a host of others. Rolling Stone dubbed him a “streetwise city kid with an eye for the country,” while Uncut proclaimed him a “renaissance-rocker,” and NPR declared that “no one can turn tales from the outer limits into catchy songs quite like Prophet does.” His latest album ‘Wake The Dead’ topped the US Americana charts for two weeks, was UNCUT magazine 'Americana Album Of The Month' and was followed by his biggest ever European tour with over sixteen sold out shows. He is now set to return, digging deep into his back catalogue, performing as a four piece, including his wife and long-time collaborator Stephanie Finch on keys. Support comes from Our Man In Th...

Awake Arise

United Reformed Church · Oxted

The Oxted Sessions calendar for 2026 concludes with Awake Arise - A Winter Show For Our Times - an unmissable collaboration that brings together five of the English folk scene’s most inventive artists to celebrate the riches of our varied traditions and reflecting upon the hope and resilience in music and song that can bring joy to us all in the darkest season. This is truly “rousing stuff” (The Observer). Award winning band Lady Maisery (Hannah James, Rowan Rheingans and Hazel Askew) have for over a decade produced “the most exquisite, thrilling vocal harmony work in the English folk scene” The Guardian. Longtime collaborator Sid Goldsmith is a true stalwart of the folk scene in his much-loved bands Aldridge/Goldsmith and Tarren as well as in international theatre, most recently touring the world in Wuthering Heights. Completing the powerful line-up this year is BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner Sam Carter, renowned for his vivid, keenly observed songwriting, which Uncut described as being "as penetrating as Richard Thompson's best work" Featuring traditional songs, folk carols, spoken word and newly written music to galvanise and brighten this darkest season, Awake Arise is...

Seamus Fogarty

United Reformed Church · Oxted

“Magical journeys through fable and modern life and back again, often in the same song’ ★★★★★ – The Guardian “The ghostly emotional wallop of the tunes will take your breath away” ★★★★ – Irish Times “By turns gritty and poetic… a real original” ★★★★ – The Observer London-based, Irish alt-folk alchemist Seamus Fogarty released new album Ships to critical acclaim earlier this year via Scottish label Lost Map Records, and Swedish label Sing A Song Fighter. Since then, he has enjoyed widespread coverage across BBC6Music (“Fantastic!” Guy Garvey) and recorded a live session for Gideon Coe & Marc Riley, while BBC Radio 3’s Elizabeth Alker lauded the album’s mix of electronica, avant-garde and Irish folk: “It’s robotic, and it’s got soul’’. Is it any wonder Cillian Murphy has proclaimed Seamus to be ‘one of my favourite artists around at the moment'? Augmenting his performances with a range of analog synths and drum machines and a stellar cast of supporting musicians, including multi-instrumentalist Emma Smith (Pulp, Beth Gibbons) and drummer Aram Zarikian (Grass Cut, Peaky Blinders), his live shows are no less ambitious an...

Dave McCabe

United Reformed Church · Oxted

After recently stepping out with his debut solo single “When You’re Young”, Dave McCabe is heading back on the road in March 2027 for a run of UK dates, joined once again by special guest, James Jay Lewis. Best known as the voice and songwriter behind The Zutons - a band with four top-ten albums to their name, as well as the smash hit "Valerie", famously covered by Amy Winehouse - McCabe’s move into solo territory has already made a strong impression. “When You’re Young” has been tremendously well received and already a firm live favourite. Earlier this year, McCabe and Lewis played a run of shows together that quickly gathered momentum, with packed rooms and a great response night after night. McCabe’s set draws from material throughout his rich writing career, from Zutons classics, to songs he wrote for other artists and glimpses of his new music. Jay Lewis is a perfect fit for the bill. A Liverpool-born multi-instrumentalist, he’s worked with Cast and The La's over the years, and has been steadily building his own solo following. With songs that carry a classic, melodic British song writing style, and his outstanding musicianship, the two team up together both...

Amy Winehouse by Lucy Randell

Boisdale of Canary Wharf · London

“It’s rare you see such an effortless talent. Lucy is charismatic and cool through and through.” – Mathew Bridgeman, Promoter Lucy Randell approaches Amy Winehouse’s catalogue with a deep respect for its musical complexity. She emphasizes timing, phrasing and tonal contrast, the way Winehouse would land a word just behind the beat or hang a note into silence, rather than surface imitation. Lucy rejects mimicry; she interprets the songs through her own jazz and soul sensibility. Her career includes features with session groups and appearances around the UK and Australia, and she has performed at venues like Ronnie Scott’s, The Jazz Café and KOKO, stages Amy herself frequented. In a Camden Market event, Lucy articulated her method: “To sing Amy Winehouse you have to recognise that rhythm and tonal texture, and her timing. You really have to listen to how she lands her syllables.” Camden New Journal Expect a set drawn from Back to Black and Frank, delivered with Lucy’s own instrumentation and arrangements. Highlights often include “Valerie,” “Tears Dry On Their Own,” “Rehab,” “Back to Black,” “Love Is a Losing Game”. She yields space for the band...
