Lydons

The Workshop Cafe · Oxford

Workshop Café are thrilled to host both of these incredible out-of-town sonic duos. Lydons is an infectious five-piece alt-rock band from the Black Country, formed in 2023. Their sound blends Nirvana's grunge influences with the British feel of the Stone Roses, complemented by heartfelt lyrics about mental health and human connection. The band is currently preparing to release their debut EP next year. Wall Street, Southampton’s resident "autotune vampire," embodies the dark streets and glowing dock lights of their home city. Sonically drawing from Interpol, The Voidz, and Beach House, their live lineup features duelling guitars and heavy vocal effects that make their music both immediate and memorable. The band was also recently featured on Huw Stephens' BBC Radio 6 Music show.

Golden Toad

The Workshop Cafe · Oxford

Golden Toad is the brainchild of Al Brown (ex-Japanese Television). Rising up from the swamplands of East London. It sees him fuse krautrock beats with electronic soundscapes, psychedelic melodies, and jazz inspired progressions. All drenched in a serious doosing of revered heavy vocals. Early champions include BBC 6 music's Lauren Laverne, Nemone, Tom Ravenscroft, Em Pilbeam, Gideon Coe, NTS, and John Doran, founder of the Quietus magazine. Swamp wonk at the edges of the earth. Tune in.
