Golden Lion, Todmorden

About this event

Dark Matter presents Dééfait & Parastatic double-header is on Sunday 8 November 2026 at Golden Lion, Todmorden, with doors at 19:30. Tickets start at £12.10, including the booking fee.

Dééfait are a French Noise Rock/Psyche proto-punk band releasing their debut album mixed by GNOD, on Ici d’Ailleurs Records IDA in September. Parastatic are three friends from the North East of England with a love for Krautrock, shoegaze and post-rock music. Since their birth in 2010 they have sporadically released music that fuses motorik grooves with thumping synths and magical guitar sounds. Their last record Concrete Reborn features the new and exciting addition of a spoken word performance from Valencia-born, Newcastle-based electronic and spoken word artist Late Girl. This album represents an evolution of their sound into the space where post-rock and shoegaze congregate. They will be releasing new material this Autumn.

Dark Matter presents Sylvie Rose quintet + Uroboro

Golden Lion · Todmorden

Isostasy is a new, forward-facing, jazz-groove-led body of music shaped by one woman’s journey through life in times of enormous change. Drawing on the idea of isostasy—the Earth’s crust and mantle continually adjusting to changing forces—the music explores balance, movement and adaptation. Through strong improvisational elements and dynamic ensemble interplay, each musician responds and contributes to an ever-shifting musical equilibrium. Brazilian, classical, folk and dance influences are woven into the songs, alongside reflections on personal experience, the changing circumstances of everyday life and a deep connection with the natural environment. Taking composed elements and reshaping them through improvisation, Uroboro take you on musical journeys and flights into the unknown. Their dramatic arrangements and sinuous riffs expand and explode into free playing, both fierce and tender. From this, beautiful songs emerge, and sometimes spoken word calms everything down. Uroboro are a team of top drawer players making big, romantic music. “This is definitely a band to keep an eye out for live, as they are guaranteed to deliver high quality music that steps neatly across g...

Dark Matter presents Kill Your Boyfriend (IT) + Neu Oscuro (Sister 9 Recordings)

Golden Lion · Todmorden

KILL YOUR BOYFRIEND is a two-piece post-punk band formed in 2011 in Treviso, Italy. The first two albums were released by Italy-based Shyrec, as well as several singles and EPs, including a 10" split with New Candys in 2015 and “Elizabeth” a 7" Ltd on London-based Depths Records. The third album “Killadelica” and the fourth "Voodoo" were released via Sister9 Recordings(UK), Little Cloud Records(US) and Shryec. The band has been performing extensively across Europe, UK and Russia opening for bands like Preoccupations, The KVB, ZU, Zola Jesus, Civil Civic, The Underground Youth and many other artists. The "Disco Kills" EP was created in 2024 with the idea of experimenting with new sound horizons more suited to the dancefloor than the rock'n'roll of the last album. So drum machines and analog synths were overused. Three singles ("Obession", "Discretion" and "Youth") will be promoted before the official release of "Disco Kills" through the English agency Big Mouth Publicity, which will be followed by an intense season of live shows throughout Europe. ++++++++++++++ NEU OSCURO make their vinyl debut here with the deliciously dark and intense 'Desolation EP' — a five track offe...

Ordinary Giants

Labour Club · Glossop

Ordinary Giants is a song suite by acclaimed songwriter Robb Johnson based on the life and times of his father, Ron Johnson. A family history of the 1930s, the Second World War and the Welfare State — told through songs, spoken word, personal memory and the lives of ordinary people. There are songs and spoken-word pieces about the social realities of the 1930s, the growth of fascism, the experience of the Second World War, the NHS, comprehensive schools, anti-racism and attacks on the Welfare State by the Right. Some of the songs are funny, some are sad, some are love songs and some are political satires.
