They were the first Black band to break The Marquee Club in 1971, earned two UK chart hits in 1976, and became one of the most influential African-heritage groups to emerge from Britain’s music scene. Their catalogue continues to resonate across generations, with Sunshine Day, Welcome Home and Music for Gong Gong remaining staples on global stages. Osibisa’s legacy runs deep, cited by artists from Santana and Stevie Wonder to Al Green, Johnny Nash and Bob Marley. At Boisdale of Canary Wharf, the band bring their signature blend of driving percussion, soaring horns and richly textured arrangements - the sound that made them internationally recognised as the godfathers of Afro-rock. Join us for an evening of lively music from Muscadin, a band with more than 50 years of experience and remarkably few changes to its line-up. Over the years, Muscadin has played for countless barn dances at folk clubs, wedding receptions and parties, in venues ranging from village, church and school halls to Cecil Sharp House—and even the dinosaur hall at the Natural History Museum. As well as British and Irish dance tunes, the band’s occasional concerts feature music from across Europe, North and South America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Tickets: £5, with profits supporting Parkinson’s UK. Additional donations are warmly welcomed.
