Katie Spencer

Village Hall · Hepworth

'Her articulate picking, with suggestions of folk and jazz, frames intelligently written songs’ – Guitarist Magazine ‘Fresh as a sweet Sunday morning’ – MOJO ★★★★ ‘A fine singer-songwriter, and an excellent guitarist’ – Songlines ★★★★ ‘A master-class of inspired and beautifully-sounding craftsmanship’ – KLOF ‘One of the most distinctive voices in folk music’ – Folk London ‘What Love Is is a triumph. Katie deploys her signature vocal vibrato to devastating effect’ – At The Barrier Raised in the East Yorkshire flatlands on the fringes of Hull (UK), Katie Spencer’s landscape has always been that of open skies and widening rivers. It is this sense of space and movement that flows through her assured guitar style and songwriting. Now, as Katie steps into this new era with a third album, her focus turns to those deeper inner spaces, inviting the listener to engage with her heartfelt and intricately-crafted songs. Her writing, and most notably her guitar playing stems from a time when the steel-stringed instrument was truly finding its voice. Artists like Joni Mitchell, Judee Sill, Julie Byrne and perhaps most...

Skye Consort & Emma Bjorling

Village Hall · Hepworth

"Trans-Atlantic Chamber Folk - unheard of! Skye Consort & Emma Björling is a bunch of renowned musicians from Canada and Sweden who make marvelous music together. They're mixing trad music from Scandinavia, Ireland and the British Isles, French-Canada, and tunes of their own devising. They find enchanting stories and melodies, then bring them into the 21st century with worldly chamber-folk settings. "Lots of groups play those styles. None of them do it like Skye Consort." - David Noel Edwards Voices, fiddle, nyckelharpa, cello, bouzouki, banjo, and percussion riffing on whirling polskas, groovy reels, passionate love songs, breathtaking hymns, and original compositions. Skye Consort and Emma met during a La Nef project in Montréal in October 2017. At the end of the project, just as Emma was preparing to return to Sweden, a HUGE storm in Iceland cancelled all of the flights from North America to Europe. Emma and the members of Skye consort spent the next several days listening to tunes, jamming, and joking about starting a band. By the time Emma went home, the BAND had actually been STARTED! Emma Björling (lead voice, percussion & shruti box) is an award-winning Swedish singe...

Paul McKenna

Village Hall · Hepworth

Scotland’s Paul McKenna has long been ranked among our finest singers and songwriters, armed with a powerful yet intensely emotive voice and passionate social conscience, often expressed through his songs, a combination that’s brought frequent comparisons to the great Dick Gaughan. We saw Paul do a set at Orkney Folk Festival in May 2025 and were so impressed we decided to book him there and then. Cutting his teeth as the front person for The Paul Mckenna Band, Paul travelled the world sharing his songs and his stories for over a decade, playing many of the biggest venues and releasing 5 albums. Having honed his craft, he is now touring on his own. Paul was a featured artist at the world-renowned Transatlantic Sessions in 2019. Alongside Cara Dillon, Tim O’Brien, Molly Tuttle, and the multi-talented house band, he performed a string of shows across the UK. 2024 saw Paul McKenna team up with long term friends, and traditional music powerhouse, Ímar to release a brand-new song titled “Always You”. The single was an immediate hit with fans and was released in time for Paul to join Ímar on their tour of Ireland and perform the song with them on each night of the tou...
