Beyond the ‘STREETS of LONDON’
Chapel Arts Centre · Bath
From the Producer and band of the hugely popular ‘Fire and Rain & American Pie’, they now bring you a sequel! This time featuring Folk-Pop artists of the same era from the UK. Throughout the swinging sixties and early seventies, artists such as Ralph McTell, Cat Stevens, Lindisfarne, The Seekers, Steeleye Span, Mary Hopkin, Donovan, Sandy Denny and a few quirky ‘one-hit wonders’(!) went toe-to-toe in the pop charts with Rock/Pop giants such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. A few of the Beatles’ acoustic-folky songs will also feature in this show, as their influence and inspiration spread throughout all popular music of the time. It promises to be another fascinating, whimsical, sometimes melancholic journey (including some narrative and projection screen images) back to an extraordinary era of folk singer-songwriting. Who said nostalgia ain’t what it used to be!
