Edward Abbiati & The Rattling Chains (Italy) / Red Hash

Leytonstone Social Club · London

Rattling Chains is the latest vehicle for Ed Abbiati to channel his classic high energy rock‘n’roll songs. Previously leading Americana legends Lowlands, Ed has added horns to his latest outfit. As he describes the band - ‘It’s the sound of a group of friends—bandmates through years of shifting lineups and different bands—playing their hearts out on a Saturday night.’ If you never had the chance to see Lowlands at previous What’s Cookin’ shows and other London venues or heard their albums or the ‘Me and the Devil’ record he cut with Chris Cacavas (Green on Red / Dream Syndicate), here’s a chance to put that right. Think Springsteen, Petty, Seeger and sometimes even a bit of the Pogues thrown in. Years of shared miles, shows, albums, life, all leads to a live show where the tempo rushes here and a chord slips there as they allow the music to knock them off balance and play heartfelt and honest music. This isn’t about perfection, it’s about having fun and getting raucous and a band playing for friends, strangers, and the sheer love of doing it. Tomas Peters and his best friend Sam Barker are the songwriters, singers and guitarists in Red Hash. Their songs ar...

Guy Davis

Green Note · London

GUY DAVIS: “… one of the most gifted acoustic musicians on the planet” Blues Blast Magazine. Multi instrumentalist Guy Davis is a two-time, back-to-back Grammy nominee for Best Traditional Blues, musician, actor, author, songwriter, so much more than ‘just a bluesman’, a troubadour of the folk tradition, and a master of his craft. Guy uses a blend of Roots, Blues, Folk, Rock, Rap, Spoken Word, and World Music to comment on and address the frustrations of social injustice, touching on historical events, and common life struggles. Equally at ease with six or twelve string guitar, five string banjo, harmonica, and even the didgeridoo, Guy’s work has seen him perform alongside Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Dr John, Taj Mahal and Joss Stone, opening for Chuck Berry, Joan Armatrading, and BB King, and perform all over the globe. Adventures that once saw him chased out of Red Square in Moscow for trying to sing, performing in the then Soviet occupied East Berlin, and in front of an iceberg in Greenland! His shows feature a mixture of his own original material alongside classic cover songs from such luminaries as Muddy Water, Howlin’ Wolf, and Bob Dylan. “…a superb song...
