This Halloween, Shake on the Exe presents Arthur Miller’s — a chilling story of fear, suspicion, and mass hysteria. Set in the shadow of the Salem witch trials, our production remains rooted in its traditional world while drawing unsettling parallels to the society we live in today. Dark, atmospheric, and disturbingly relevant, this haunting new production asks: when fear rules a community, who survives? Alongside performing their favourite contemporary folk arrangements, the musicians will also offer an insight into the Scandinavian tradition of hygge. The evening's programme centres on tunes from Denmark, Norway and Sweden, arranged by the Danish String Quartet, and also includes original music from closer to home. The repertoire features pieces by Exeter based composer Ali Jones. Take the opportunity to sit back, switch off from the digital world, and enjoy the cosy atmosphere. Hot drinks and alcoholic beverages will be available from the Cygnet bar. Bring a blanket for extra cosiness!

HDIF Family Disco - All-Ages Daytime Indie Club

We've held the HDIF Children's disco at the End Of The Road festival since 2011, and they've been lots and lots of fun. We play our usual mixture of indie pop and soul, and the discos are a wonderful opportunity for kids to bop around to Belle & Sebastian, Allo Darlin', Ramones, Pixies and more, and for their parents to bop along with them. It can often be hard to get out to club nights once you become a parent, so these discos are as much a chance for the parents to go out dancing as they are for the kids. We also want to provide an alternative to the many rave-themed kids discos that are on offer in London. If you'd rather dance to your favourite indie pop and Motown songs with your children, then we're the disco for you! Music will be played at a reasonable level. We'll make sure that the songs aren't played too loud, but if you're worried about volume please do bring along ear defenders for your kids. Everyone is welcome at our kids discos - children, parents and family friends - but we follow similar rules to Coram's Fields - so no admission for adults unless they are accompanied by a child. Sunday 29th November brings a special afternoon for fans of alternative rock. Headlining are Brooke, returning to Southend for their first hometown gig in 20 years. Expect an intensely emotional, full-throttle performance, channeling the raw energy, atmosphere and sonic intensity of 90s alternative rock. This is a long-awaited homecoming and one not to miss. Opening the afternoon are Rostock, led by seminal Canvey musician Roger Hoodless. Bringing a distinctive 70s-inspired rock sound, Rostock promise plenty of swagger, groove and classic rock spirit. Additional support comes from Drive Blind, delivering their own take on 90s-influenced alternative rock, blending grit, melody and attitude.
