Soft Machine is one of the greatest UK avant/jazz-rock bands of all time. Their work, from their earliest performances as a psychedelic band who were contemporaries of Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd and the Jimi Hendrix Experience, all the way to being one of Europe's best known 'fusion' groups, has influenced several generations of bands, and continues to be name-checked by today's hip experimentalists. Whilst the line-up of Soft Machine may have changed many times since the late 1960’s, the band’s spirit of musical adventure, and the ease with which it freely avoids being pigeon holed and can move from powerful progressive jazz fusion to atmospheric psychedelia effortlessly. This is a seated gig.

With the continued interest in the YES album From a Page, now is the ideal moment for Oliver Wakeman and his band to bring some of these beloved later-era YES tracks - which featured significant songwriting contributions from Oliver - to the stage. The show is split into two dynamic halves: the first showcasing music from Oliver’s extensive solo work and collaborations, the second highlighting material from his time with YES. Audiences can look forward to an evening full of musical surprises and captivating turns. This will be a Sitting concert.

Life can’t just be the humdrum, the mundane and the routine before the inevitable slide to disease, decay and death. Why can’t we sneak in a bit of awesome, a tad of amazing and maybe a smidge of wonderful? A forest canopy opening onto a huge vista would be enchanting for some but my ancestors wandered in the desert for forty years, I think we’ve been outdoors enough. Others get their fix from the spiritual but I’ve been harbouring a grudge against God since my mother stopped me going to Arsenal after my Barmitzvah. Forty nine years ago. ’God will be watching’ she said. Well, at least he got to see the game. The point is, life could be so much better so I’m on the lookout. Come and join me on the hunt. Ian Stone is a hugely experienced broadcaster, podcaster and writer and a brilliantly funny comedian. He performs at major comedy festivals and venues globally. Great DJs playing top Northern Soul vinyl tracks supported by the live band, The Croupiers, performing their brilliant Northern Soul songs. Party food included with ticket price plus a special edition souvenir collectable LNSC [patch for the first 100 through the door]. All proceeds going to the three Lewes Food Banks as they prepare for their Christmas / New Year support of local families.
