About this event

Stanley Dee: A Tribute to Steely Dan is on Friday 27 November 2026 at The Boom Boom Club, Sutton, with doors at 19:30. Tickets start at £16.50, including the booking fee.

There are many ways to approach the music of Steely Dan. Music which means so much to those of us who appreciate a tightly crafted groove, a memorable tune, an intriguing chord progression and often a twisted story line. Bearing in mind the sheer quality of the musicians who played on the original recordings, the scope of the task can seem daunting. For that reason, you might reasonably expect a Steely Dan tribute band to have a somewhat serious manner….. But not Stanley Dee! We love the music of Becker and Fagen, and it makes us happy. Audiences can tell from the way some of us bounce around on stage, and the way we all have large smiles plastered on our faces most of the time. This music is FUN! Which is not to say that we treat the music lightly. This stuff is hard to do well, and we pride ourselves on recreating the authentic sounds, down to the details of the amazing solos and the intricate vocal harmonies. We’re all huge fans of the music itself, and we know what our audiences want to hear. We’ve been at this since 2009, and have racked up loads of gigs, starting in our home area of South Herts, but also (increasingly) going much further afield. If you’ve seen us, you...

THE TREMBLING WILBURY'S

The Boom Boom Club · Sutton

The UK's finest tribute to the Traveling Wilburys, the amazing rock supergroup created in 1988 by George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. The band features a line-up of top musicians and vocalists who perfectly recreate the unique sounds and style of these legendary artists, delivering a high-octane show of the highest standard. The original Traveling Wilburys never played a show together, as Roy Orbison sadly died just after their debut album was released in 1988. The passing of George Harrison in 2001 and Tom Petty in 2017 meant that only Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne are left from the original line-up, so for the past few years the Trembling Wilburys have been giving audiences "the show that never was" to enormous acclaim. Their superb two-set show features a great mix of solo hits by all five original Wilburys, such as 'Here Comes the Sun', "Pretty Woman", "My Back Pages", 'Taxman', "I Won't Back Down", "If Not For You", "You Got It", 'Hold On Tight' and 'Roll Over Beethoven', as well as Traveling Wilburys' classics such as 'End of The Line', 'Handle With Care' and 'She's My Baby'.

FIND JOY

West Hampstead Arts Club · London

find-joy are an alternative indie band from North County Dublin. The group released their latest single ‘Departed’ off their sophomore EP earlier this month. The track was produced by the group’s guitarist Mark Allidine and was recorded over a number of sessions in various home studios. ‘Departed’ showcases a strong bass groove and synth melodies from Oscar Kelly which combine with the drums to produce a driving rhythmic feel. The chorus features an explosion of width and a rather catchy vocal hook from singers Tadhg Kelly and Colleen Conlon. The track is noticeably different from Peptides, the first single from the EP while still maintaining many familiar find-joy elements. “Departed is a song about infatuation. The all encompassing feeling of the start of a romantic interest. It’s a certain kind of feeling that I feel is as relatable as it is bitter sweet” says Tadhg about the new single. ‘Departed’ was mastered by Tom Woodhead in his studio Hippocratic, in West Yorkshire. Tom has worked notably with Status Quo, English Teacher and Gerry Cinnamon to name a few. Known for their energetic live shows, find-joy have performed twice at Whelan’s Ones to Watch, Gol...
