An Evening of Harold Pinter Featuring The Lover

Barns · Wingfield

Wednesday 4th November 7.30pm - The Lover & Landscape: An Evening of Harold Pinter performed by Open Space Theatre Before leaving for work, a man wishes his wife well for the planned visit of her lover during the afternoon. It is a long-term arrangement which apparently leaves the husband free to see his mistress. But is it? All is not as it seems in Pinter’s hilarious and quirky comedy of marital capers. Also, on the bill during an evening with Pinter is Landscape, the playwright’s classic study of the failure of communication between a man and a woman.

Storytelling at the Feast of Fools: Baden Prince

Quaker Meeting House · Northampton

On Wednesday 4 November, Baden Prince Jnr brings his show "What a Woman" to Northampton’s Storytelling at the Feast of Fools. "What a Woman" celebrates Baden's Caribbean heritage and honours his grandmother, who was his guardian between the ages of 1 -15 years. We’re delighted to welcome Baden’s return visit to the Feast of Fools. He has established a considerable reputation as a storyteller in recent years, with a series of appearances including the East Anglian Storytelling Festival, the Morocco International Storytelling Festival in Marrakesh, and in July of this year the Festival at the Edge at Bromyard; he’s also appeared at Bromyard, Cambridge, Chippenham and the New Forest Folk Festivals. Oh yes, and Glastonbury! … among others – the list keeps growing. He has a wonderful ability to engage the audience, between his warm presence, his quick wit and that most valu...

Murder, Margaret and Me

Market Overton Village Hall · Oakham

The ‘funniest woman alive’, harbours a dark secret and ‘the Queen of Crime’ has the investigative instincts of her greatest creations. Margaret Rutherford and Agatha Christie: two national treasures behind one of the British film industry’s greatest franchises. Rutherford is famed for bringing Christie’s beloved spinster, Miss Marple, to the screen. However, Agatha Christie did not approve of Rutherford as Marple, and Margaret Rutherford had no interest in being involved with anything so sordid as murder. Nevertheless, with the help of the Spinster with a twinkle in her eye, Rutherford and Christie are brought together and an unlikely friendship emerges, through their shared experiences of life and loss, tragedy and tea, murder and Marple.
