Anna Anise Band ('Aneth' Album Launch)

The Falcon Hotel · Bude

The eagerly awaited album launch tour from Anna Anise introduces a radiant new voice in modern folk. Blending melodic hooks, rich vocals, and full-bodied guitar tunings, her debut bilingual album Aneth seamlessly weaves together English and Cornish (Kernewek), creating something truly captivating. On this very special night, Anna will be joined on stage by her band of exceptional Cornish musicians, Lizzie Pridemore, Millie Young and Issy Meltzer who bring soaring string arrangements and close harmonies to the uplifting arrangements of her debut bilingual album. The album follows a successful crowdfunding campaign supporting this collection of songs that showcases both the Cornish language and some of the region’s most exceptional musicians. This album has been made possible by the creative support of translator Elizabeth Ellis, musical director Daniel Woodfield and producer Sam Jones, alongside many others working at the forefront of Cornish arts and music. Peter Knight's Gigspanner Trio

The Falcon Hotel · Bude

Since his inaugural performance with the fledgling Steeleye Span in 1970, Peter Knight has been a mainstay of the British folk scene. Never one to rest on his laurels, Peter has carved a reputation as a relentlessly questing musician “as mercurial as quicksilver”, and it is never quite so apparent as in his work with the various Gigspanner line-ups. The Gigspanner Trio is the beating heart from which all other lineups have evolved, and the one most loved by many for the intimacy and joy manifest in their virtuosic performances. Audiences revel in the opportunity to witness ‘up close and personal’ the almost telepathic communication that exists between Peter, guitarist Roger Flack and hand percussionist, Sacha Trochet. This concert is an extra special one as the Trio will be showcasing selected pieces from their long waited new album. Described by Folk Radio UK as one of the “most quietly brilliant sets of musicians in the folk world and beyond”, they take self-penned material along with music rooted in the British Isles and beyond, and with the flick of a bow, a finely chosen chord or slip of a beat, produce richly atmospheric arrangements “with notes seemingly plucke...
