PROXY MUSIC + The Pink Diamond Revue + Nick Carlisle

The Lexington · London

After a fifteen year hiatus, Proxy Music are back with their conceptual art-rock schtick - a little more jaded and creaky but sounding all the better for it, and still absolutely immersed in decadent retrofuturist 1973 glamour. Thogdin Ripley: Bryan Ferry Heidi Heelz: bass and vox Charley Fucking Stone: guitar Nick Carlisle: synth wizard Oliver Whawell: sax and oboe Percy Mackay: drums and original Roxy Music DNA Is it an art project? Is it a tribute band? Who cares! It's the most fun any self-respecting Roxy afficionado can have with their clothes on... Support comes from THE PINK DIAMOND REVUE “ Trying to describe them is like trying to explain a dream after three days without sleep, somewhere between 1950s rock ’n’ roll, acid house, synth‑punk, and some late‑night broadcast from a different dimension. They’ve built a sound that’s totally their own, even if nobody can agree what planet it came from. Imagine vintage blues smashing into relentless electronic grooves, fuzz‑drenched guitars welded to metronomic beats, a fever dream where the future dances with the past and nobody remembers who started the music. And then there’s the stage show, Tim Lane prowling lik...

Resident Punk UK Launch Party

The Lexington · London

About the book. Time-travel to the punk scene of 1970s New York and beyond—as seen through the eyes of its chief reporter known as “the original punk” who gave the movement its name. Part memoir and part cultural history, Resident Punk offers a no-holds-barred expose chronicling the iconic and unforgettable music scene that would become defined by bands like the Ramones, Blondie, Television, the Heartbreakers, and Talking Heads. In 1975 at just 19 years old, Legs McNeil—alongside John Holmstrom and Ged Dunn—cofounded PUNK magazine. In doing so, they inadvertently chronicled the start of a movement. McNeil’s role in the whole thing? To be their resident punk, embodying the zeitgeist the magazine was looking to capture, often by getting f*cked up with musicians, artists, writers, and hangers-on . . . and sleeping with a different girl every day of the week. Now, just in time for the 50th anniversary of PUNK magazine, Legs tells the stories behind the stories in a sleazy, star-studded adventure. The coauthor of Please Kill Me, Legs invites readers along for the ride as he tussles with musicians and artists, groupies and writers, Golden Age Hollywood film stars and legendar...

Razors

The Lexington · London

UXB Music Promotion & Sounds of The Suburbs Records present https://www.facebook.com/share/1B2ejFV3SW/ https://www.facebook.com/share/19UmxSJ9BA/ Formed in 1977 in Hamburg, ☆Razors☆ are a german punk band from the first hour. With interruptions and changes in the composition, the band is still active. Feller, Gott & Schwabe began together in the summer of 1977 under the influence of the emerging wave of punk music. Till May 1978 they rehearsed without a singer. Danker was the singer they found. He stayed only three days to rehearse the set until the first real concert. This took place during the Grünspan-concert series in Hamburg. Razors were now actively contributing to the environment of the Krawall 2000, one of the important early punk stores in Hamburg. they played there regularly. Their debut single 'Christ Child/Enemy' released in 1979 the band itself produced and distributed it. The next two releases were published by the Cologne label Rock-O-Rama. 1981 the band broke the contract with Rock-O-Rama and changed to Konnekschen for two publications. The singer left the band to take care of his children and Lui from Napalm took the vocals for some concerts. Razors remained i...
