Ruth and Sadie Price with Lisa Oliver

Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub · London

Ruth and Sadie were brought up in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire and were heavily influenced by traditional song from an early age. They have sung mainly unaccompanied songs from a wide repertoire, which includes: songs from their family tradition and West Yorkshire; songs which they have learned from the family’s associations with North America (Ruth was born in Canada); and some contemporary stuff. However, they have more recently been singing with the accompaniment of Lisa Oliver on harp and we are delighted to welcome all three back to the club

Lainey Dempsey

Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub · London

Influenced and inspired by Scotland and Ireland’s wealth of historical and contemporary traditional song bearers, Lainey writes and sings about rebels, underdogs, the supernatural and the broken hearted. Her unaccompanied voice creates an intimacy and a human connection that invites audiences to travel with her into the stories of the songs she sings. Lainey’s first album ‘Letle Telt’ was self-released in May 2023. Many songs are historical, some mythical, almost all have a strong female voice either in the writing or the telling. Much of Letle Telt was recorded around a campfire in the Highlands of Scotland. Half the songs were found in antique song books and are rarely sung today if at all. The other half are new compositions and have been inspired by tales from Scottish history and lore.

Betsey Trotwood · London

Welcome one and all to the glorious sound of the Thames Delta, coming at you live and direct from Southend-on-Sea - albeit in the middle of London. First up, garage indie rockers Invaders give forth a sound that is made from 4 cups of estuary mud, a large measurement of swagger and a heavy helping of groove. After a nerve-calming pint or three, you’ll be ready for Permanent Firmament to take the stage - Southend alumni playing songs by the Cusack/Son Of Buff/Adjustment songwriter Lance Baldock, with a sound that sips from the early Fannies, sludgy Neil Young cup with a dollop of indie-powerpop and shades of early Wilco. You’re probably on the spirits by now but Dark Globes bring their melodically driven noise-pop, lo-fi garage rock, and folk-pop infused with gentle psychedelic rock and ringing guitars. Finally - if you are still with us - The Bromides are a London-based (but big in Southend!) alternative noise-pop and garage rock band fronted by singer, guitarist, and Scratchy Records founder Simon Berridge, who also performs as Simon Bromide.

PROXY MUSIC + The Pink Diamond Revue + Nick Carlisle

The Lexington · London

After a fifteen year hiatus, Proxy Music are back with their conceptual art-rock schtick - a little more jaded and creaky but sounding all the better for it, and still absolutely immersed in decadent retrofuturist 1973 glamour. Thogdin Ripley: Bryan Ferry Heidi Heelz: bass and vox Charley Fucking Stone: guitar Nick Carlisle: synth wizard Oliver Whawell: sax and oboe Percy Mackay: drums and original Roxy Music DNA Is it an art project? Is it a tribute band? Who cares! It's the most fun any self-respecting Roxy afficionado can have with their clothes on... Support comes from THE PINK DIAMOND REVUE “ Trying to describe them is like trying to explain a dream after three days without sleep, somewhere between 1950s rock ’n’ roll, acid house, synth‑punk, and some late‑night broadcast from a different dimension. They’ve built a sound that’s totally their own, even if nobody can agree what planet it came from. Imagine vintage blues smashing into relentless electronic grooves, fuzz‑drenched guitars welded to metronomic beats, a fever dream where the future dances with the past and nobody remembers who started the music. And then there’s the stage show, Tim Lane prowling lik...
