ICE BATHS + SHAKI TAVI

Cavern · Exeter

Ice Baths are a band that sound as if they play music for themselves and don’t really mind if anyone else likes or gets it. Luckily, for anyone with good taste and a passion for guitar music, you will love Decadent Sprinter. This is a band that who appreciate and explore atmosphere, feeling and dynamics within the constructs of the ‘pop’ song. You could even call it post rock at times. The vocals don’t strain anything beyond a deep mumble, similar to David Gedge of The Wedding Present. Combine that with the driving drone of the drums and rhythm section, Ice Baths sound like latter day Wire. ICE BATHS have performed live on BBC Radio 6 (Tom Ravenscroft show) & released albums & EPs on London's Blank Editions label, alongside Thurston Moore, Housewives and Black Country, New Road as well as supporting the likes of Ulrika Spacek, Squid, Ditz, Drahla, FACS & Crack Cloud. Shaki Tavi is an indie shoegaze and alternative rock music project led by Los Angeles-based songwriter Leon Manson. The project has maintained a positive, underground reputation in the DIY music scene, particularly following the release of the sophomore album Minor Slip on the Felte record label.

Chuck Ragan!

Cavern · Exeter

Freakscene presents... Chuck Ragan. People discover Chuck Ragan in different ways. Some people know Ragan from the pioneering punk act Hot Water Music he’s co-fronted for the past three decades. Others are aware of his successful solo career or the Revival Tour, a collection of traveling troubadours that included his peers like Frank Turner and the Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon. Some folks may have even come across him from the successful fly fishing operation he runs out of Grass Valley, California. The one throughline through all this is the way that Ragan approaches everything with a level of honesty and integrity that can’t be faked—and that sentiment is undeniable on Love And Lore, his first solo collection in ten years and one that’s being released as Hot Water Music take a well-deserved victory lap for their breakout album Vows, which came out earlier this year. Delighted to have Chuck at The Cavern for the first time. Sunday 24th January 2027 - 7pm. £25 in advance

DEAD ON A SUNDAY + GUESTS

Cavern · Exeter

DEAD ON A SUNDAY Darkwave rock from Denver, Colorado. Dead On A Sunday was formed in early 2021 by artist/producer Ross Ryan. After years of being in the electronic music scene under a different name, Ryan felt called back to his roots in dark rock music. Having never sung in a project before, he tried his hand at singing lead. The result was Dead On A Sunday's first single, "So What If It Kills Me." The track was released in August 2021, with other singles following over the next year. The debut album "Strange Days" was released in October 2022 and quickly reached millions of views on Spotify. Dead On A Sunday's live show is dangerously electric and emotionally charged, with theatrical makeup and sometimes orchestral instrumentation. The project's success quickly materialized after several TIK TOK posts reached viral status, with the most popular post comparing Ryan's vocals to those of Bob Belcher from the popular Fox television series Bob's Burgers, which fans have named the term "Bob-Core" to describe the band's sound. The viral videos have garnered several million views to date and have made Dead On A Sunday an active fan base of dark music lovers and the artist's debut LP as...
