Jaywalkers

Memorial Hall · Reeth

As those who have been fortunate enough to catch them in full flight will testify, a Jaywalkers show is an exhilarating experience. UK-based they may be but many from the other side of the Atlantic have complimented them on their particularly stylish delivery of this virtuosic and rich brand of Americana, Bluegrass & Country. These three outstanding musicians have developed a tight bond, demonstrated through their well-crafted, tasteful arrangements and ability to bounce ideas around the stage. The combination of powerhouse bass, flame-fingered mandolin, blistering fiddle and three-part harmony pack a punch as fiery as Jay’s lead vocals and delivers a rich sound that far exceeds what you’d expect from an acoustic trio. Mandolin maestro Mike Giverin is also the chief songwriter, and the band’s originals cover themes including the travails of the travelling musician, saving the planet and even tales of being stranded halfway up a mountain. All of which stand proudly alongside their clever covers, foot-stomping bluegrass tunes and superb interpretations of old country classics. True Foxes

Memorial Hall · Reeth

Having seen these guys perform at two festivals this year I am so pleased to be able to bring them to Reeth. Absolutely beautiful harmonies and fabulous stage craft. Having performed over 800 shows since forming in 2019, True Foxes are an acclaimed alt-country/Americana cousin duo from Cornwall, rapidly gaining recognition across the UK and internationally. Led by Amie’s powerful vocals and soulful songwriting, often compared to Laura Marling and Brandi Carlile, the duo blend acoustic guitar with Chloe’s ethereal harmonies and melodic bass lines. Their honest storytelling, natural chemistry, and warm sisterly banter take audiences on an emotional journey. Their debut album, Howl (2024), received widespread acclaim and extensive radio support, being named Americana Album of the Month by The Country Mile Radio and UK Country Radio, alongside significant airplay across the UK and internationally. The album earned glowing reviews from AmericanaUK, Rocking Magpie, and Fatea Magazine, and saw the duo recognised as BBC Artist of the Week across eight territories. “Sublime harmonies, perfectly crafted songs and a beguiling stage presence” - Mark Radcliffe - (BBC Radio 2) ‘‘Hard...

Brooks Williams and Aaron Catlow

Memorial Hall · Reeth

“How such a complete and sensational sound can come from just two voices and two instruments is awe-inspiring.” AmericanaUK Brooks Williams and Aaron Catlow create a fiery, fearless sound of Americana, folk and country blues. Their musical chemistry is a spark that sets the stage ablaze with a spontaneous high-energy. There literally is no one performing today creating this kind of acoustic music. Their repertoire is genre busting. There’s the bluegrass-swing of Gillian Welch’s “Red Clay Halo,” complete with aw-shucks whistling. The Celtic-blues of their self-penned “Anniesland”, a song for the late-great Rab Noakes. Their metal-like riff-driven arrangement of Molly Tuttle’s “Dooley’s Farm.” And audiences love it! At the Blue Room Sessions in The Netherlands, at Cambridgeshire’s Ely Folk Festival, at The Atkinson in Southport as well as North Yorkshire’s Victoria Hall. At Paisley’s Arts Centre and St. David’s Hall in Cardiff, audiences can’t get enough of the high-energy Williams-Catlow collaboration. In 2026 Brooks and Aaron will release their fourth recording. Tentatively called Working In Wood, the duo team up with the amazing Jon Short (John Ma...

We are very happy that Jez is coming back to Reeth for his fifth visit to The Memorial Hall. Jez Lowe is a much-travelled, much-covered singer and songwriter who has released twenty-plus albums of original songs over the last forty years, earning himself a loyal following along the way as well as a raft of awards and nominations. His songs have been recorded by over seventy of his peers, ranging from “old guard” acts like Fairport Convention, The Dubliners, Wizz Jones, Cherish The Ladies, The Tannahill Weavers, Gordon Bok, Mary Black and Bob Fox, to the newer breed pf performers like The Unthanks, Megson, The Young Uns and The Duhks. He was also a principal writer on the award-winning BBC Radio Ballads series and is a regular presenter on BBC Radio Four’s “Open Country” programme. He continues to record and tour world-wide, sometimes solo, sometimes with his band The Bad Pennies, and in collaborations with fellow-artists such as James Keelaghan, Steve Tilston and The Pitmen Poets. Sound of The Sirens

Memorial Hall · Reeth

Making a very welcome return to The Memorial Hall Sound of the Sirens are a singer-songwriting duo based in Exeter, Devon comprising of Abbe Martin & Hannah Wood. Honing their craft over the past decade, Martin & Wood have cemented themselves as firm favourites as “one of the UK’s finest folk acts” not only on the Westcountry scene, but nationally, and internationally too. Their status, and fast-growing fan-base is not only testament to the pair’s prowess as songwriters and musicians, but as people too. Martin & Wood are two of the hardest working musicians on the scene and wear their hearts very much on their sleeves in terms of their songwriting. The pair glide gracefully through laments of past relationships, and life experiences, as well as highlighting the important topics of the day, namely mental health awareness, and homelessness. Without being pigeonholed into any stereotypical genre, the instrumentation of the band is vast, and varied. Martin (stage right) plays acoustic and high-strung (Nashville tuning) guitar, mandolin, and bass drum, while partner in crime Wood (stage left) plays acoustic and electric guitar, tambourine, snare drum, and the piano. The pairs’...

Rant

Memorial Hall · Reeth

Coming back to Reeth for the fourth time, RANT remain at the forefront of the Scottish fiddle scene. The meeting of four of the country’s finest players, the quartet use just their fiddles to weave a tapestry of melodies, textures, layers and sounds. Bethany Reid from Shetland, Anna Massie and Lauren MacColl from the Highland peninsula of the Black Isle, and Gillian Frame from the Isle of Arran join forces to showcase the combined resonance of their instruments with repertoire unearthed from both old collections and their own contemporary writing. RANT create a sound which is both spacious and lush, yet retaining all the earthy bite and spark synonymous with a Scottish fiddle player. ‘Live in Glasgow’ was recorded during one special night in Cottiers Theatre in the heart of the city’s west end. It is a celebration of the place the band met during their student days - a city which has been at the centre of their music making ever since - and is the culmination of 14 years of honing their craft together as a quartet. ‘Live in Glasgow’ is their first release on vinyl. Their live set reflects years of honing their sound together and their love for the music of their respect...

Cua

Memorial Hall · Reeth

Making a return visit to Reeth after playing here in 2022 John Davidson, Shane Booth & Ros O'Meara bring together dynamic and contrasting instrumentation and voices. The group have an expansive acoustic soundscape blending guitars, fiddle, bouzouki, percussion and three part harmony arrangements (that often sounds like more) to create a folk styling that incorporates elements of music from the plains of Ireland to the mountains of Scotland and much farther. The Cua live experience has been compared to contemporaries such as Lau and Lankum as well as to such greats as Planxty and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, to name a few. Described as folk, world, roots, psychedelic-folk, heartfelt, transcendent, americana or trad the band ticks all of these boxes and more while maintaining a powerful through-line. Cua truly pride themselves on their diversity, with subtle nods to many genres, whilst keeping a folk, world, roots and traditional line throughout. All members are multi-instrumentalists and are inspired by many aspects of the musical spectrum including roots, blues, gospel, jazz fusion, traditional, bluegrass and more. Their approach to music is inspired by the history, landscape an...

Kyson Point

Memorial Hall · Reeth

We were lucky to see these guys playing at a festival in Norfolk and were very keen to bring them to Reeth. Galvanised by glowing reviews for their collaborative 2023 solo albums ‘Wave Machine’ and ‘All My Days’ and following their marriage in late 2023, Kelly and David Booth formally combined their musical talents to create contemporary folk duo Kyson Point. They write and perform stirring vignettes of the natural world and human vulnerability. Kelly’s songbird vocals and lyrical piano blend with David’s shimmering guitar and compelling voice, often evoking Laurel Canyon and Crosby Stills Nash harmonies, alongside compositions more firmly rooted in UK soil. Their first album ‘Underwater Sky’ was released in November 2025, with a follow up due in spring 2027.
“High-quality songs... excellent vocal harmonies... such a fine album.” (RnR magazine) “The perfect pairing of David and Kelly's voices... here they soar... recalling the classic 70s lushness of Prelude and Crosby Stills And Nash” (Fatea)

Chris While & Julie Matthews

Memorial Hall · Reeth

Chris While and Julie Matthews are the longest-lasting female duo in Britain and have played more than 3,000 gigs, appeared on over 100 albums, written hundreds of original songs and reached millions of people around the world. Now, 30 years after their debut, they sound as fresh and vital as ever. Chris & Julie are generally regarded as folk/singer-songwriters but their outlook is more akin to the DIY philosophy of punk. Their story is remarkable, one of two empowered women doing it their way, without compromise. They run their own label and publishing company; record and produce their albums from their own studio; perform all their own material, and have always valued their complete autonomy and creative freedom. And all from a small village near Sheffield, nearly 200 miles north of the London-centric UK music industry. Their songs are varied and colourful and draw inspiration from the overtly political to key social issues and real-life human stories.

Memorial Hall · Reeth

Arthur & Kerran blew us away when they played in Reeth for the Swaledale Festival in 2024, and we can't wait to welcome them back in 2027! Arthur Coates & Kerran Cotterell are a powerhouse folk duo blending Scottish fiddle fire and English guitar gravitas with driving foot percussion, grooving basslines, soulful vocal harmonies and offbeat charm. Expect a two-man trad tornado with foot-stomping tunes, groove, wit and inventive arrangements. Since meeting in 2018, Arthur and Kerran have grown from jam sessions into festival favourites across the UK and toured across Europe and North America, winning the Robinson Emerging Artist Showcase at Canada's Goderich Celtic Roots Festival in 2025. FolkWorld praised their “world class fiddle tunes and songs”, while KCR FM called them “one of the best live acts I've ever seen.” Controlled Burn is their latest live show, built around the album of the same name and favourites from earlier records.
