Musical Chairs

The Canalhouse · Nottingham

In the beginning, there were dinosaurs. They didn’t write songs or tell jokes, but if they had, only one of them would be allowed to use an instrument at once on any given comedy bill. Musical Chairs boldly breaks the ultimate taboo and brings you three melodic comedic powerhouses. Ashley Frieze is a comedy club regular, with a guitar bag full of daft and witty songs and a joyous energy to warm up even the coldest of crowds. Kitty Messalina is a comedic triple threat: a queer woman of colour: lewd lyrics and raunchy rhymes from this salaciously smutty songstress. Friz Frizzle is the ultimate song ruiner. They take you to another plane with logical lyrical leaps that will surprise and delight you. It’s simply an hour of wonderful musical stand-up comedy, proving you can have multiple musical comedians on the bill… and nobody gets hurt.

David Eagle's winging It

The Canalhouse · Nottingham

Your favourite blind folk-singing comedian returns. Since my last Nottingham Comedy Festival show I’ve had my own stand-up series on BBC Radio 4. Nevertheless I’ve not increased the ticket price, partly because, as the title suggests, I haven’t really decided yet what this show will be about. But in fairness, I’m writing this blurb in June, and the show’s not until November. I’ll probably bang on some more about being blind, because it’s useful to exploit a niche. I’ll probably sing a song and play the accordion, because I’m a brazen crowd pleaser. I’ve got some thoughts about gospel music, stories about an odd altercation in an American airport, a weird experience with a nun and a run-in with some racists in Kent. I might play you some of my weird childhood recordings that I discovered on some old cassettes. I’ve got a poem from the perspective of a piece of discarded chewing gum and a song about a misunderstood pigeon. In fact, now that I’ve written this, I reckon the show’s going to be absolutely incredible. I’d suggest booking your tickets now, before misguided hubris leads me to whack up the price. Matt Richardson: Bit Much Mate

The Canalhouse · Nottingham

Multi-award-winning comedian, presenter, and viral sensation, Matt Richardson has always been told, "Bit much mate."A bit too loud, a bit too honest, and a bit TMI. What can he say? It's just in his nature, and this is where he does it best: live, on stage, no filter. Expect a non-stop, high-octane show filled with his signature "hilarious and charming" (The Mirror) stand-up, with the same unapologetic vibe that's landed him many TV appearances and over 100 million views online. Whether you know him from the telly, from his "Another Good Question" series on TikTok, or you're coming in completely fresh, ‘Bit Much Mate’ is honest, chaotic, hilarious, and very Matt. As seen on Nevermind The Buzzcocks, Love Island Aftersun, Drunk History… and who can forget Celebrity Coach Trip.
