Red Imp & Rock N Roll Book club present "Wonderin' Y: How SLADE's drummer survived

Walthamstow Trades Hall · London

Wonderin' Y: How Slade's Drummer Survived In the summer of 1973 at the height of his fame, Slade’s drummer Don Powell was involved in a devastating car accident, leaving him with brain injury that resulted in severe and lasting memory loss. Award winning writer and performer Ian Pearce collaborated with Don to recreate the emotional journey to recovery in this gripping and emotional one man show. Imagine being on stage in front of thousands of people in the US and you can't remember your number one hit Cum On Feel the Noize ! Don Powell will appear in person at Trades Hall, with Ian to discuss the events and to take questions from the audience. This is a unique opportunity for all classic rock fans to experience a truthful performance and join in the conversation with the legendary drummer himself. Ian Pearce has achieved a remarkable success. This could so easily be a tragic show, but instead, we experience hope, determination and, ultimately loud, ferocious and beating revival. Richard Cox . Jazz at Trades, London Jazz Festival special, 17th of November

Walthamstow Trades Hall · London

Walthamstow's premier jazz night featuring London and the UK's finest musicians presents an EFG London Jazz Festival special! Reminiscing In Tempo is a new project featuring freewheeling reinterpretations of the music of Duke Ellington that has been put together specially for EFG London Jazz Festival by Jazz at Trades. Ellington’s music was constantly in flux, with many of his well known compositions being rearranged over and over again throughout his career (his first opportunity to record long form versions of his compositions on 1951’s Masterpieces By Ellington features an 11 minute long arrangement of Sophisticated Lady, that is almost symphonic in scope). With this adventurous and ever innovative spirit in mind Jazz at Trades has commissioned ambitious new arrangements of the music of Duke Ellington to be played by a group of improvisers who each, as bandleaders and composers themselves, are always seeking to expand the language of their own music: Kim Macari – trumpet Reiss Ellis Beckles – alto saxophone Riley Stone-Lonergan – tenor saxophone Nnamdi Nnachi-Cole – piano Tom Rivière – double bass George Grundy – drums Another evening not to be missed, we hope y...

Synth Club

Walthamstow Trades Hall · London

Run by the people, for the people, Synth Club is a hangout for those interested in making music/sounds using electronic hardware. Live sets, demos and talks; polished or first-timers, whacky or experimental - we love it all. Book to play or walk-in on the night. We encourage people to bring kit along even if they don't fancy playing, as this allows others to see instruments they might not otherwise own. This helps facilitate the sharing of tips and tricks and promotes an interest in the hardware we all get excited about listening to and using. Check out #Londonsynthclub on Instagram.

Kissinger Effect Album Launch

Walthamstow Trades Hall · London

"We started out as a bunch of friends getting together to play punk covers in a garden shed. After the gradual addition of our own songs, an album’s worth of irreverent pub rock protest songs came together. Our politically charged songs cover a range of emotions between p*ssed off and angry, with the occasional song of utter despair thrown in. There are no ballads or love songs. Ironically, Richie (guitar) prefers analog synths, Tony (bass) prefers Motown, Balázs (drums) prefers guitars and basses, while Kevin (singer/lyricist) prefers to have a lie down. Come to our album launch!"

A RAZZLE DAZZLE CHRISTMAS with Audrey & Judy!

Walthamstow Trades Hall · London

"A RAZZLE DAZZLE CHRISTMAS! Audrey & Judy Reimagined. Musical comedian Tracey Collins returns this festive season with a chaotic double bill. Reimagining Hollywood icons Audrey Hepburn and Judy Garland, this show blends music and comedy into the ultimate Christmas cabaret show. The festive cheer kicks off with Audrey Heartburn. Audrey has left the heartbreak of Hollywood behind, arriving in Walthamstow for a boogie woogie and a drinky winky. Expect lively audience play, spontaneous song, and Audrey hand feeding mince pies straight to the crowd. The evening closes with Moody Judy. Stranded in Manchester during a winter storm, Judy Garland discovers The Smiths. There, she transforms their melodious melancholy into cabaret confessions with a splash of razzle dazzle and high leg kicks. ★★★★★ ""The queen of character comedy"" To Do List ★★★★★ ""The energetically engaging Collins is superb.""
